Joan authored the acclaimed book, Whose Body Is It Anyway? — Smart Alternative and Traditional Health Choices for Your Total Well-Being (Newmarket Press. NY 1999). It’s a subject she had to write about, having faced her own life-threatening and difficult-to-diagnose health problems. Joan was named one of Best Foods’ health experts in 2002 for their national “Refresh Your Mind, Body, and Soul” program and tour, and she recently was a member of the Alameda Public Health Commission.
Prior to her work as a psychologist and health professional, Dr. Kenley explored the healing aspects of working with the speaking voice. Her book, Voice Power – a Breakthrough Method to Enhance Your Speaking Voice (Henry Holt. NY 1989), details her innovative six-step BodyVoice MethodTM that improves the sound of the voice through practices that involve working with the mind, body, and emotions.
Kenley’s work in broadcasting has led her to become known around the globe for her warm, friendly “voice” on such recognizable voice mail/digitized phone products as Nortel’s Meridian Mail voice mail, Pacific Bell’s Message Center, and Verizon’s Information Services.
