Rinor Jani
Rinor Jani is the Founder and Program Coordinator of the Nuclear Disarmament Advocacy & Research Program and an NGO Representative to the United Nations at Pathways To Peace. The Program focuses on advocating for nuclear disarmament, developing new research, and the adoption of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) in Albania and the Balkan region.
Rinor led the efforts to publish the first national research assessment on the TPNW in Albania, organized high-level conferences on nuclear disarmament, and secured support for the TPNW from parliamentarians, municipal leaders, and civil society. Pathways To Peace also became an official Partner Organization of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons Coalition, ICAN, (Winner of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize).
Mr. Jani was selected by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government to participate in the Hiroshima-ICAN Academy on Nuclear Weapons and Global Security in Hiroshima City where he learned from industry experts and met with the Hibakusha survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings. He has also researched the humanitarian impact of nuclear testing with the Columbia University Center for Nuclear Studies and he is the recipient of the Kathryn W. Davis Projects for Peace Award.
Prior to his work in nuclear disarmament, Rinor worked as a mindfulness instructor with schools within the New York City Department of Education and was awarded the Arts Bring Change Education Award by the New York Department of Cultural Affairs and New York City Council of the Arts. He was also a Committee Member on the UN Department of Global Communications Youth Steering Committee and served as an Intern at the International Organization for Migration (UN Migration). Rinor is currently studying Human Rights at Columbia University. He also strongly supports the passage of the SHIELD Act and the TSRA Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.
